Founded in 1981 Rectory Rangers first entered into a summer league ran by Blue Lamp. The team was formed when Keith McAdam and Paul Tedford decided to set up a team of local lads with the idea of then progressing to the mid ulster league.
In 1983/84 the team made it into the mid ulster league at division 5 level. Their first skip was a newcastle skip of black and white stripes. Their 1st league match was against Laurelvale at Kernan with Laurelvale winning 2-1.
Over the following 5 years they progressed into division 3. In 1991 they made it to the cup final and played Richhill and were defeated 2-1 then again in 1995/96 they made it to the cup final against broomhedge and were defeated 3-1
In 2000/01 the finally achieved promotion into division 2 under the managment of Jeff Kerr. To date this is the highest level achieved by the club.
The team played at Kernan right up until 1992 when they transfered to their home pitch in Brownstown Park. The main sponsor of the team over the years was Michael Best, who himself played for the team for 15 years. This years sponsor is Jameson's Bar.
The all time top goalscorer for the team was Keith McAdam with a staggering 125 goals in all the games he played during his time with the team and an amazing 40 goals in the 1991/92 season.
In 2007/08 Season Rectory are undergoing a complete transformation with Jeff Kerr in charge of the first team. A very young and youthful team has also been entered into the reserve league. The club as a whole has set out a strategy to be played out over the next 3-4 months, with the reserve team feeding the first team a range of very talented young players.
At present there are 40+ players registered with Rectory and we hope to increase this number in the coming seasons.
On the whole the outlook for the future of Rectory is looking very positive.
