Queens Rangers first joined the Nite Owls League in 2004 when it was ran by a company from Lurgan.
The team did really well and went on to win the league only to be robbed of the title due to a technicality.
In 2005 James Reid went on to take over the running of the league assisted by Ernie Johnston the caretaker of Edenvilla and Derrick Hardy and Gylnn Taylor.
In the first year of taking over the team there were a total of 6 teams at the begining of the season. During the course of the year one team dropped out bringing the total teams to 5. This year 2007/08 that number has almost doubled with a total of 9 teams in the league.
Queens Rangers have done really well since entering the league winning the league twice, the Christmas cup 3 times and the Easter Shield once. They also made it to the final of the Easter Cup in their first year but the match was called off as the league folded and was later taken over by James. The made it to the final of the Christmas cup this year but where defeated 2-1 by Robinsons. They finished this year in 3rd position.
The team also experienced the skills of a professional footballer this year when Daryl Smylie ex Newcastle United played for them to keep fit whilst awaiting his contract to be renewed. Both the team members and Daryl enjoyed his time with the team.
The team also held a charity match against Ballynahinch followed by a disco in Jamesons Bar after to raise money for Robert Gregg who was hospitalized after a motorcycle accident. They raised a total of £500.00 and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable day with the final score being 3-1.
Last year the team also travelled to Taughmonagh on FA Cup Final Day to play in a friendly for the B Bingham Memorial Cup against Taughmonagh 112th Old Boys (antrim league winners for 5 years in a row). After the match the team attended Taughmonagh Social club to watch the FA Cup Final where the Taughmonagh 112th old boys put on a spread fit for a king. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and everyone is looking forward to this years game which is to be played in our home town of Portadown.
The team has had various sponsors over the years including Jameson's Bar, SB Contracts, Jackie Whitten and D Madden PVC.
Each year since starting Queens Rangers have held a dinner dance where the players are rewarded for their individual achievements during the course of the year. This is the social event of the year and is always an enjoyable day out for all in attendance.
